A Major Newslang Update: Android & iOS

A Major Newslang Update: Android & iOS

March 31, 2026

Same app, clearer path through the news

We have shipped a major update to Newslang on Android and iOS. This release is less about flashy gimmicks and more about something we care about deeply: making your daily reading feel obvious, repeatable, and a little more fun once you know what to expect.

If you have been with us for a while, you will notice the biggest shift in the free experience. We reworked it so the loop matches how people actually learn from articles: notice what you do not know, work those words, then immerse in reading. No more guessing whether you are “doing it right”—the path is the product.

What changed in the free experience

A new learning flow ties everything together. You mark unknown words, learn them in context, and then dive into the article. That order sounds simple because it is; it is also the difference between skimming and actually building vocabulary that sticks.

Level transformations are unlimited for everyone. Whether you are easing into a hard piece or challenging yourself with the original, you can switch reading levels without hitting a wall. We want difficulty to be a dial you turn, not a gate you bounce off.

Vocabulary is centered on in-article learning. Lists and drills still matter, but the spine of the experience is the article in front of you—words you met in real sentences, with real topics, on real days.

New features worth opening the app for

Offline mode for Newslang Pro means your commute, flight, or spotty café Wi‑Fi stops getting in the way. Save what you need and keep reading and practicing where you are.

The quiz system is sharper and more engaging. Expect questions that feel closer to “did I understand this?” than “did I memorize a flashcard?”—still quick, still on your phone, but better aligned with how you use Newslang.

Smarter in-app prompts nudge you at the right moments so you spend less time wondering what to do next and more time in the language.

Why we built it this way

Language learning apps often sell motivation. We are interested in predictability: open Newslang, know the steps, make progress, come back tomorrow. This update is a step toward that—especially for anyone on the free tier who wants a serious routine without friction.

Update the app from the App Store or Google Play to get the latest version. If something feels different in a good way, that is the point—and we would love to hear how it lands for you.
